Finishing Your Embroidery in the Hoop

Finishing Your Embroidery in the Hoop

Congratulations on completing your beautiful embroidery pattern! Now it’s time to frame your masterpiece in the hoop so you can proudly display your work. Here’s a quick and easy guide to help you finish your embroidery in the hoop.

Step 1: Re-center and Tighten

Start by re-centering your finished embroidery in the hoop. Make sure the fabric is taut and smooth. Tighten the hoop closure to ensure the fabric is securely in place.

Step 2: Trim the Excess Fabric

Next, use scissors to carefully trim the excess fabric around the hoop, leaving about a 1-inch edge of fabric. This extra fabric will be used to secure the embroidery in the back.

Step 3: Stitch Around the Edge

Cut a piece of embroidery floss long enough to go around the hoop with an extra 12 inches. Thread the floss onto your needle. Using a running stitch, make large stitches around the edge of the fabric, approximately ½-inch from the cut edge. Leave a 6-inch tail of floss at the beginning.

Step 4: Gather and Secure

Once you’ve stitched all the way around the hoop, pull both ends of the floss to gather the fabric towards the back of the hoop. Pull the floss tight so the fabric is securely gathered. Tie a knot to hold the fabric in place and trim any excess floss.
